Itineraries

Together with the possibilities of covering by feet or bycicle many paths starting from the B&B “Il Glicine”, We are pleased to propose you some artistic and culturally interesting places, easy to be reached:

Urbino (50 kms)

Having roman origin, it became an important centre during the Gothic Wars (VI century a.C.)
The town particularly flourished both artistically and culturally thanks to Federico of Montefeltro, whose Court took part Piero della Francesca, Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Giovanni Santi (Raphael's father).
In the 1626, after the reign of the Borgia family, it became the independent Dukedom of Urbino within the papal territories. Today it’s the seat of an important University.
Interesting places in the town are the “Palazzo Ducale”, the Cathedral and the house of Raphael.
Urbino has been reconignised by UNESCO as a Property of the Humanity.

Rimini (65 kms)
Already inhabited during the Paleolithic, the ancient Romans called it Ariminum: here Caesar said the famous sentence “Alea iacta est” when passing through the Rubicone river. There are still interesting roman traces as the Augustian Arch, the Tiberian bridge and the Amphitheatre.

Fano (5 kms)
It’s a flourishing touristic and fishing port on the Adriatic sea. It was an important roman town (Fanum Fortunae), which stood on the ancient consul’s road Flaminia. At present there still are very interesting architectonic rests: the Augustian Arch of the 9th century a.C. and the roman walls.
After the Longobard and French occupation, it became possesion of the Malatesta family (which left both the Malatestian fortress and the Malatestian court).
Being on the Gothic Line, during the Second World War it suffered many bombardments and the destructions of all its bell towers from the part of the german army during its retreat.
During summer it becomes an important seaside resort, which has been rewarded in the years 2004-2005 and 2006 with the Blue Flag of Europe, for the quality of the water, the coast, services, security and enviromental education.

Conero Riviera (50 kms)
The Conero Park is a protected area founded in 1987.
Being a starting point for many trips by foot, it offers very beautiful sightseeings.
It includes two of the picturesque adriatic beaches: Sirolo and Numana.
